Cause: Built in 1895 by sir railton dixon, middlesbrough. owned at time of loss by elder dempster co ltd. two boilers, triple expansion engine of 244 nhp, single shaft. passage forcados for hull. mied and abandoned. master and crew returned the follwing day despite a major fie in no 1 hold. towed by tugs stern-first and beached in deal roads. abandoned. some cargo salved. broke in two and was dispersed by explosives.
