Cause: Ex-denewell. built in 1910 by w pickersgill & sons ltd, sunderland. owned at the time of loss by ampleforth ss co ltd. two boilers, triple expansion engine of 307 nhp, single shaft. passage the downs for st naziare. struck a mine laid by uc-71 & sank. the explosion blew the gun and a winch clean off the poop deck. no lives lost.
