Cause: Built in 1915 by ailsa shipbuilding co ltd, troon. owned at time of loss by the general steam navigation co. two boilers, triple expansion engine of 299 nhp, single shaft. passage bordeaux for london. struck mine laid by uc-6. (ww1sl & sibi).

(HMS BULLDOG, HI 35/77). INS AS WK 14MTRS. BR STD. H1285/78/207 9.6.78 KNOWN LOCALLY AS THE 'ORANGEMAN', BUT BELL INSCRIBED 'HELENE' HAS BEEN RECOVERED. ALSO CROCKERY WITH ROTTERDAM STAMP.
