Cause: Built of iron in 1871 by blackwood, port glasgow. owned at time of loss by burrell & son. two boilers, compound expansion engine of 180 nhp for 10 knots, single shaft. passsage london for bombay. crew of 47 and 23 first class passengers. sank after collision with german ss 'franconia'. 38 lost. (dods & sibi).
