Cause: A type iib boat. built in 1935 by deutsche werke ag, keil. oil engines of 700 bhp for 13 knots surfaced, motors of 360 bhp for 7 knots submerged. 5 torpedoes. no deck gun. crew of 22-24 men. sunk by hm ships puffin, saon & cayton wyke dropping a total of 82 depth charges. was driven onto the w goodwins where she was swallowed up by the sands. unable to be taken as a prize due to a strong gale. (sibi).
