Cause: built in 1896 by earle's sb co ltd, hull. owned at time of loss by thomas wilson sons & co, hull. three boilers, triple expansion engine of 339hp, single shaft. passage middlesbrough for bombay. general cargo. sank after violent explosion fwd on the port side whist at anchor in a gale with heavy snow squalls. probably mined. 27 men lost.
