Shipwreck details

Name: THESSALY

Length 88.7 meter, width: 10.4 meter, draught: 7.6, tonnage 1925 ton
Load: natural fibres and materials in general: unprocessed and products

Cause: built of iron in 1877 by laird bros. owned at time of loss by birkenhead shipping co. one boiler, compound expansion engine of 220nhp, single shaft. passage new orleans for hamburg. cargo cotton and oil cake. caught fire off borkum on 29.12.1890 and was abandoned. drifted across north sea before sinking off the humber.
