Cause: Ex-le queilly. built in 1897 by laport & co, rouen as a four-masted steel barque. owned at time of loss by skibs a/s, deodeta. fitted in 1911 with auxillary oil engines for 5 knots. rebuilt in 1923 as a whale oil tanker after derigging and fitting oil engine of 209nhp with single shaft. passage constanta for grangemouth. in ballast. foundered after striking a mine laid by u-19.
