Shipwreck details

Length 122.2 meter, width: 16.2 meter, draught: 9.8, tonnage 6086 ton
Load: non-ferrous elements and ores: unrefined and refined,metal: concentrate and products

Cause: Ex-warban '40, ex-empire sambar '41, ex-empire beaver '42. built in 1919 by g m sandifer construction corporation, vancouver, washington. owned at time of loss by den norske. three boilers, triple expansion engine of 553 nhp, single shaft. machinery by hooven, owens, rentschler co, hamiltion, ontario. passage st john, nb, for london. struck a mine and sank. nine men lost. cargo was: 111 tons flour, 1000 tons zinc, 863 tons cheese, 727 tons aluminium, 627 tons military vehicles, 60 tons tank parts, 95 tons wireless sets, & 236 tons guns and aircraft. was later heavily depth charged by the admiralty wreck dispersal department after which rison bearsley recovered by grab some 1121 tons of copper, zinc and aluminium. (sibi).
