Cause: Built in 1936 by s p austin & son, sunderland. owned at time of loss by the gas light & coke co. two boilers, triple expansion engine, single screw. machinery aft by richardsons, westgarth & co sunderland. passage london for sunderland. in ballast. struck a mine while in tow of hm trawler peter hendriks & sank. (hms leeds 1941).

LAST 30FT OF STERN IS COLLAPSED & TIPPED TO ONE SIDE. GENERAL STRUCTURE STRONG & QUITE UPRIGHT. PART OF BRIDGE INTACT & IS HIGHEST POINT OF WRECK. (E GILES, UNDERMARINE OPS 13.10.71).
