Cause: ex-balaclava. built in 1906 by northumberland sb co ltd. owned at time of loss by furness, withy & co. three boilers, triple expansion engine of 372nhp, single shaft. machinery by richardson, westgarth & co ltd, sunderland. passage montreal for hull. torpedoed and badly damaged by ub-16. eventually beached on the barnard sand and became a total wreck. (sibi).
