Shipwreck details

Name: GLUCKAUF (POSSIBLY)

Length 81.1 meter, width: 11.6 meter, draught: 5.5, tonnage 1915 ton

Cause: ex-rondo. built in 1912 by s p austin & son, sunderland. owned at time of loss by gluckauf kohenhandelsges. two boilers, triple expansion engine of 199hp, single shaft. machinery by g clarke & co ltd, sunderland. passage immingham for rostock. cargo coal. struck the wreck of 'katine bulgaris' and sank about 20miles ne from spurn head.

NFA. 7.4.05 DIVED TWO YEARS AGO. REPORTED AS BEING THE BOW SECTION OF A SHIP, ON ITS PORT SIDE. (R YOUNG). NCA. SEP 2016/000053291 9.10.16 EXAM'D 6.4.16; IN 5348.935N, 0033.951E [WGD]. LEAST M/B DEPTH 26.87MTRS IN GEN DEPTH 37MTRS, LENGTH 139.1MTRS, WIDTH 37.0MTRS, HEIGHT 9.9MTRS, ORIENTATION 060/240 DEGS. SCOUR DIMENSIONS LENGTH 80MTRS, TOWARD 330 DEGS. WRECK SITS ON ITS STARBOARD SIDE, COLLAPSED IN THE CENTRE WITH BOW AND STERN INTACT.STRONG MAGNETIC ANOMALY. (MMT, HI 1473). RETAIN 26.5MTRS IN REVISED POSITION.
