Cause: 27.11.1703 built in 1667 by dean, harwich. 70 gns, 3rd rate. rebuilt in chatham in 1698. foundered 27.11.1703 in the great storm. (srn).

Details measurements/cartography: HH232/720/11 10.4.06 WK REMAINS LIE IN 5048.1767N, 0024.6380E [WGD]. LOCATED BY 3 LOCAL DIVERS WHILST TRYING TO FREE A LOBSTER POT IN PEVENSEY BAY. THEY FOUND THE REMAINS OF AN IRON BOLT OR NAIL, A SMALL SHOT AND A BRICK. LATER ASSESSMENT SHOWS THE SITE CONSISTS OF AT LEAST 45 IRON GUNS, OTHER ARTEFACTS AND TIMBER HULL STRUCTURE. GUN CLUSTER LIES ON TOP OF BALLAST MATERIAL, WITH THE WHOLE OCCUPYING AN AREA SOME 40MTRS BY 11.5MTRS AT RIGHT ANGLES TO THE SHORE. CONSIDERED TO BE A LARGE WARSHIP OF THE PERIOD 1600-1800, POSSIBLY HMS RESOLUTION. (M DUNKLEY, ENGLISH HERITAGE, EMAIL DTD 10.4.06). INS AS FOUL UNTIL DESIGNATED. BR STD.
