Cause: Built in 1888 by w grey & co, west hartlepool. owned at time of loss by lowlands steam shipping co. two boilers, triple expansion engine of 156nhp, single shaft. passage from hull. possiby struck a mine laid by uc-7 or possibly was torpedoed. remained afloat on her cargo and was towed to be beached, first at mucking flats and later in the r colne, where she slid partially into the channel. (sea breezes, dec 1978; lloyds war losses & sibi).
