Cause: built in 1891 by schlesinger davis & co, newcastle-upon-tyne. owned at time of loss by tyne steam shipping co ltd. two boilers, triple expansion engine of 450nhp, single shaft. machinery by ne marine eng co ltd, newcastle-upon-tyne. passage london for newcastle-upon-tyne. sank following collision with ss sheffield. one passenger lost. (sibi, dods & wreck returns 1892-1893).

SINGLE SCREW, IRON SHIP, WELL COLLAPSED WITH ENGINE REMAINING AS PROMINENT PART. (F WATSON, TELECON). 6.9.90 SILVER JUG WITH INSCRIPTION 'TSS COY' FOUND ON WK IN 525639N, 013206E. (MIKE MARSH, TELECON WITH LIBRARIAN). 23.8.01 WK LOCATED IN 5256.709N, 0132.161E [UND]. MAKERS PLATE WITH DATE 1891 & NUMBER 161 RECOVERED. WK BELIEVED TO BE 'LONDONER'. (M MARSH/J DILLON.
