Cause: Built in 1941 by caledon sb & eng co ltd, dundee. owned by the great britain ss co. two boilers, triple expansion engine of 393 hp, single shaft. machinery by the ne marine engineering co. passage london for calcutta. general cargo including nickel ingots. torpedoed by german e-boat. caught fire and was taken tow. went ashore following day and broke back. some cargo was discharged.
