Cause: Built in 1906 by ag 'neptun', rostock. originally owned by olldaard & thoersen shipping line. seized as a prize of war and owned at time of loss by the admiralty. one boiler, triple expansion engine of 133hp, single shaft. passage tyne for london. cargo coal. sank after collision with ss upminster. (S OLD, E-MAIL DTD 16.7.03) NCA. 9.12.10 DIVED CONFIRMED AS DRYADE BY RECOVERED CROCKERY BEARING THE SHIPPING LINE FLAG OF THE GERMAN OWNERS, OLLGAARD & THOERSEN. THIS WAS RECOVERED BY ANNIE MORRISION OF SCARBOROUGH SAC. A PORT HOLE WAS ALSO RECOVERED STAMPED 'ROSTOCK' AND THE MACHINERY DETAILS MATCH THOSE OF DRYADE. (C RACEY, EMAIL DTD 8.12.10). NCA.
