Cause: Captured by german submarine and sunk using explosives 12m sw from beachy head. (ww1sl). vessel, built in 1898 by henry koch, lubeck and owned at the time of loss by the admiralty, was captured and sunk by german submarine 12m sw of beachy head whilst en route from london to port talbot. (shipwreck index of the british isles).
