Cause: torpedoed & sunk by german submarine ub 57. (der krieg zur see). vessel, built by short bros in 1897 and owned at the time of loss by j westoll was torpedoed and sunk by a german submarine 7m s of newhaven. 33 lives lost. triple expansion engines of 301 nhp for 9knots. 33 lost. (dods).
