Details measurements/cartography: H1291/88 2.3.88 LARGE WOODEN VESSEL, FROM WHICH A LARGE STEERING OAR IS REPORTED TO HAVE BEEN RECOVERED AND WHICH PROBABLY INDICATES WK IS FROM MEDIEVAL PERIOD, LOCATED IN 505335N, 004954E USING DECCA. (P MARSDEN, NAUTICAL MUSEUMS TRUST, 15.1.88). 2.3.88 LARGE OLD WOODEN WK LIES IN 505224N, 005018E. KNOWN BY LOCAL FISHERMEN AS 'ROBIN HOOD'. WOODEN BEAMS STAND UP TO 3MTRS OUT OF THE SEABED AND IRON CANNON HAVE BEEN SIGHTED. OVER 100FT LONG AND LIES IN 10MTRS OF WATER. (DIVE SUSSEX, K MCDONALD, NO 342). 14.12.90 DIVED IN 505334N, 004943E [OGB] USING DECCA. THOUGHT TO BE OF 19TH CENTURY CONSTRUCTION. HAS 36MTR RUN OF SUBSTANTIAL DECK BEAMS. INDIVIDUAL TIMBERS ARE 7MTRS LONG AND STAND OVER 3 MTRS PROUD OF SEABED. MUCH ENTANGLED WITH FISHING GEAR. IRON DEBRIS SEEN AT BASE OF TIMBERS, SOME OF WHICH ARE SUBSTANTIAL TUBES WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN MISTAKEN FOR CANNON. IT IS NOW REPORTED THAT THE MEDIEVAL SIDE RUDDER WAS ORIGINALLY FOUND ABOUT 8 MILES S OF THIS POSN AND DUMPED CLOSE TO THE 'ROBIN HOOD'. (ADU REPORT 074, 23.11.90). AMENDED TO WK 3MTRS IN REVISED POSN.

LENGTH 35.5MTRS, WIDTH 5MTRS, HT 1.8MTRS, ORIENTATION 100/280. SCOUR 40MTRS TOWARDS 110, SCOUR DEPTH 0.5MTRS. WK, METALLIC REMNANTS OF WOODEN SV, STRONG MAGNETIC ANOMALY. (HI 1475, GARDLINE GEOSURVEY). AMEND DW 6.9MTRS IN REVISED POSN.
