(dod). sunk by german submarine s 30. about 100 of the 650 personnel onboard killed. (r verpoorte). not confirmed in axis submarine successes. 3.2.01 total complement was 675 of whom some 650 were lost. (the times, 3.2.01).

IN TWO PARTS LYING AT RIGHT ANGLES TO EACH OTHER. FOR'D SECTION (APPARENTLY) IS ABOUT 33MTRS LONG AND LIES ON PORT SIDE AND STANDS SOME 3.5MTRS PROUD OF SEABED. MUCH DEBRIS WIDELY SCATTERED AROUND. IT IS ORIENTATED 360/180 DEG. AFTER PART IS ON EVEN KEEL, LYING 270/090 DEG, WELL SETTLED INTO SEABED WITH SAND UP TO TOP ROW OF PORTHOLES ON PORT SIDE AND A DEEP SCOUR ON STARBOARD SIDE. IT IS ABOUT 33MTRS LONG AND THE BREAK IS NEAR THE SEARCHLIGHT PLATFORM. 4.7" GUNS LIE ON TOP WITH 2 TRIPLE TORPEDO TUBES. SCATTERED REMAINS OF FUNNELS, BOILERS AND OTHER MACHINERY LIE BETWEEN THE TWO PARTS. (D TERMOTE, 19.4.90). HH100/351/07 18.10.93 POSITIVELY IDENTIFIED AS WK OF HMS WAKEFUL BY SHIP'S CREST ON LIFEBOAT.
