Cause: built in 1943 by f krupp germaniawerft ag, keil. depth charged and sunk by hm ships aylmer, calder, bentinck assisted by hms bligh.positional analysis: u1051 was recorded as being destroyed without doubt at a position which plots 7.1 nm ne of this wreck (tna adm 199/1789).archival analysis: the u-boat came to the surface after being attacked and was rammed on the port side forward by hms alymer, subsequentlysinking by the bows. the u-boat was identified by its conning tower emblem which was photographed during the surface engagement (gibson 1993, p65-66). u1051 had earlier torpedoed hms manners. that ship's stern is ukho 7056, 5.4nm to the east.

THE POINTCLOUD SHOWS THAT THE STERN AFT OF THE CONNING TOWER IS CLEAR OF THE SEABED. BY POSN, TYPE OF WRECK AND ARCHIVE THERE IS LITTLE DOUBT THIS IS SUBMARINE "U-1051".
