Cause: positional analysis: trawler "alcazar" was sunk in a collision in fog with cambria while steering a course nne from codling lv. cambria was on its usual route from holyhead to kingstown (dun laoghaire). the wreck lies close to the intersection point of these two routes.archival analysis: alcazar was struck amidships (bot wreck report no 7927). there is a noticeable area of damage on the wreck amidships onthe starboard side.

LEAST E/S DEPTH 104 IN GEN DEPTH 110MTRS. NO SCOUR. DCS3 HT 5MTRS, LENGTH ABOUT 30MTRS. LYING N/S AND APPARENTLY ENCROACHED BY SAND AT EACH END. GIVES GOOD SONAR RESPONSE FROM E & W, BUT POOR SHADOW. (HMS BEAGLE, HI 3). BR STD. 14.2.23 WRECK SURVEYED 16/5/2019: MBES DATA SHOWS WRECK UPRIGHT AND APPEARS TO BE STEAM TRAWLER OR COASTER OF 33MTRS LENGTH AND 6.8MTRS WIDE. WRECK ENERGY WAS AN SV AND REPORTED SUNK SOME 14NM SOUTH OF THIS WK( WAR LOSSES 1990), AND THIS WK IS CLEARLY A STEAMSHIP. WRECK "ALCAZAR" DIMENSIONS ARE CONSISTENT WITH THIS WRECK.
