Cause: built in 1890 by bute shipbuilding & engineering co, cardiff. owned at time of loss by woods, taylor & brown. two boilers, triple-expansion engine of 245 nhp, singls shaft. machinery by w kemp, glasgow. passage the clyde for savona. ran ashore. later slipped back into deeper water and sank. (dods & sibi).

(HMS BEAGLE, HI 51/74). NCA. H1286/75 12.8.75 H1286/75 12.8.75 LIES IN 541005N, 044420W. QUITE A LARGE WK. PARTIALLY BURIED IN SANDY BOTTOM AND NEAR A LARGE SUBMERGED ROCK. (A NEWTON, 22.7.75). NCA.
