Name: ATHENIC

Length 125.9 meter, width: 17.4 meter, draught: 8.2, tonnage 5351 ton

Cause: built 1937 by w grey & co. owned at time of loss by sir walter h cockerline. triple expansion engine of 400nhp. torpedoed & sunk by u-46 & u-73. (dods & axis submarine successes).

Known since: 1941, last detected: 1987

Details measurements/cartography: SINKING POSN GIVEN AS 583200N, 201300W (D.S.N.E. 578.579). 27.7.87 SINKING POSN AS ABOVE PLOTS IN APPROX 2500 MTRS. (WW2SL & AXIS SUBMARINE SUCCESSES).
