Cause: built in 1891 by turnbull & son, whitby. owned at time of loss by w coupland & co. two boilers, triple expansion engine of 219hp, singleshaft. machinery by blair & co ltd, stockton-on-tees. passage south shield for leghorn. cargo coal. was beached following collision. subsequent refloating attempts failed.

Details measurements/cartography: H1287/77 13.9.77 WRECKAGE OF A VESSEL OF 2000TONS PLUS REPORTED IN 522745N, 010330E. REPORTED TO COVER AN ELLIPTICAL AREA OF 250 FEET SOME 200 FEET FROM THE SHORE. DRIES TO 8FT WITH LEAST DEPTH AT HW OF 2FT 9INS. THE TOP OF THE BOILERS HAVE BEEN CUT AWAY WHICH SUGGESTS SALVAGE OR DISPERSAL OPERATIONS. GEN DEPTH 12FT WITH SAND AND GRAVEL BOTTOM. 2FT SCOUR SHORE SIDE OF WK. (M B GOODRICK, 12.8.77). POSN PLOTS ASHORE. INS AS STPA, DRIES 2.5MTRS, IN 525800N, 010330E. BR STD. H1287/77/313 12.5.58 ANOTHER PROP & MORE WRECKAGE FOUND FURTHER OUT TO SEA IN THIS AREA. (M B GOODRICK).
