Cause: Built in 1953 by grangemouth & greenock dy co ltd, grangemouth. owned at time of loss by stephenson clarke shipping ltd. eight cylinder oil engine of 1500hp, single screw. passage goole for shoreham-by-sea. cargo coal. took on heavy list when cargo shifted in 60 knot wind. abandoned, left drifting and later sank. crew recovered by helicopter.
