Cause: built by a.g. weser, bremen, depth charged by us escort destroyers 'fanning' and 'nicolson'. submarine surfaced but 2 of 38 crew,who were setting explosive scuttling charges were lost, when charges detonated & submarine plunged to seabed. differing accounts of where action took place, one being 11m sw of st anne's hd, pembrokeshire.
