The Zoetermeerse Plas adjacent to the north of Zoetermeer and is beginning years '70 constructed. It is a recreational lake that originated by sand extraction for the Zoetermeerse neighbourhoods. Het Swimming beach is a approximate 400 metres long beach on the deep Zoetermeerse Plas. The eastern part of the Swimming beach is intended for nude recreation.

The water quality measurement is based on the amount of bacteria in nanograms per deciliter (n /dl). In this case it concerns the intestinal bacteria Escherichia coli (E.coli) and intestinal enterococci, which occur in the feces of both animals and humans.
