FOUND TO BE THE REMAINS OF AN IRON STEAMSHIP BUT IT APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN EXTENSIVELY SALVAGED, PROBABLY IN THE EARLY YEARS FOLLOWING ITS SINKING. FOR SUCH A LARGE VESSEL THERE IS A DISTINCT LACK OF WRECK MATERIAL. ALL THAT REMAINS ARE THE KEEL AND BILGE PLATES LYING FLAT ON THE SEABED AND GIVING NO SIGNIFICANT HEIGHT. THE BOW LIES TO THE NW. AT THE EXTREME SE POINT LIES A BOILER STANDING 3MTRS HIGH, BUT IT CONSISTS ONLY OF ENDPLATES AND THE FURNACE DOORS, MOST OF THE CURVED PLATES AND TUBES ARE MISSING. THE ENGINE, CONDENSER AND PROPS ARE ALL GONE. OVERALL LENGTH ABOUT 35MTRS BY 10MTRS WIDE. DOUBTFUL THAT THIS CAN EVER BE POSITIVELY IDENTIFIED, BUT AM CONFIDENT ENOUGH TO NAME IT AS 'QUEEN OF THE ISLES'. (K HURLEY).
