Name: HMSM AFFRAY

Length 85.3 meter, width: 6.7 meter, draught: 5.2, tonnage 1120 ton

Cause: 14.6.51 sank while on submerged passage west through the english channel. wk was not located until 14.6.51 and examination found that the snort-mast had broken off about 3ft above deck - possibly due to metal fatigue and/or poor welding. this, combined with possible failure of an automatic induction valve where mast joined the hull, was probably the cause of sinking. (beneath the waves - a s evans).
