Cause: built of iron in 1884 by william doxford & sons, sunderland for the gwynedd shipping co, liverpool (w e jones, carnarvon). a four masted sailing vessel. sold in 1896 to roberts, owen & co, liverpool. later transferred to a single ship company. passage antwerp for cardiff under tow of nord zee (l smith & co) with silver sand as ballast. tow parted in increasing wind. the ballast shifted and the vessel capsized and foundered. 10 men lost. WK STANDS SOME 30FT HIGH. MIDSHIPS SECTION IS BROKEN DOWN. RUDDER STILL IN POSN. THERE IS A BROKEN MAST AND LOTS OF BROKEN WRECKAGE IN THE BOW AREA.
