Cause: ex-gennaro ievoli. built in 1989. completed special survey in jan 1999. double hulled chemical tanker with 18 cargo tanks having an aggregate volume of 7277 cu metres. passage fawey for bar, yugoslavia. cargo 4000 tons styrol, 1000 tons alcohol isopropilic, 1000 tons methyl ethyl ketone. crew of 14 had previously been recovered. sank, cause unknown, in heavy weather with winds force 10 and 7-8mtr seas. possible that vessel's hull was breached by a floating container.
