Cause: Ex- arctic pioneer '46. built of steel by cochrane & sons in 1937, with one boiler, single shaft, triple expansion engine of 132nhp by c.d. holmes & co ltd., hull. machinery by amor & smith, hull. registered in hull & owned at time of loss by boyd line. struck by two huge waves in 50 knot gale from astern. keeled over & capsized in two minutes. floated bottom upwards for some 2 hours and then sank by the stern. 5 of 19 crew were lost, the rest being recovered by the polish trawler derkacz. LIES 110/290DEGS. INTACT, LYING ON ITS SIDE. THERE APPEARS TO BE SUPERSTRUCTURE STANDING PROUD OF THE DECK, INDICATING THAT THE DECK AREA LIES TO THE SOUTHERN SIDE OF THE WK. LIES IN A MINOR NNW/SSE TRENDING DEPRESSION. BOTTOM OF GRAVELLY SAND. (GARDLINE, HI 801). GOOD SONAR CONTACT, PLATING STRAKES APPEAR TO BE ON DCS3 RECORD. AMEND TO WK 56MTRS IN REVISED POSN. BR STD. 30.6.09 WK DIVED ON 29.6.09. A CHADBOURN'S TELEGRAPH & ELECTRIC LOG INDICATOR RECOVERED FROM THE WHEELHOUSE WHICH IS WELL DECAYED AND BROKEN OPEN. NO SIGNS OF A SCOUR, WK IS SILTED UP ON STARBOARD SIDE AND STANDS 4-5MTRS HIGH. KEEL TO N, DECKS TO S. LARGE WINCH IN FRONT OF WHEELHOUSE, THE TOP PART OF WHICH IS DECAYED AWAY. THE CHADBOURNS TELEGRAPH RECOVED FROM STARBOARD SIDE OF WHEELHOUSE. FUNNEL LIES ON SEABED JUST AFT OF THE BRIDGE. WK HAS A 4 BLADE PROP COVERED IN ANENOMIES.
