Cause: built in 1932 by a/s porsgrunn m/v, porsgrunn. owned at time of loss by akarnania maritime co ltd. passage yugoslavia for jeddah. cargo timber. ran aground in heavy seas. no lives lost.

(LL 22.3.77). 11.8.78 NO SALVAGE ATTEMPT YET MADE. (LL 12.8.78). HH395/421/01 13.3.91 WK STRANDED IN 343610N, 325542E IS CONSPICUOUS AT A DISTANCE OF 5 MILES. (HMS CHARYBDIS, HN 14.2.91). NCA. HH180/351/01 26.3.91 POSN CORRECT. DETECTED BOTH VISUALLY AND BY RADAR. OBSERVED TO BE INTACT WITH ACCOMMODATATION, MAST AND PART FORECASTLE REMAINING. (RFA OLMEDA, HN 16.2.91). HH395/421/01 5.4.91 REPORTED AS CONSPICUOUS. PHOTO CONFIRMS WK COVERED AMIDSHIPS BUT FO'C'SLE AND ACCOMMODATION WELL CLEAR. (HMS ARK ROYAL, HN 20.2.91). HH180/351/01 23.7.91 WK VERY CONSPICUOUS. PHOT INDICATES VESSEL WITH STBD LIST, STERN AND ACCOMMODATION, INTACT MAST AND STUMP OF SAMSOM POST FORWARD OF BRIDGE SHOWING CLEARLY.
