The Vinkeveense Plassen are located to south of Amsterdam, between the highway A2 and the place Vinkeveen in recreation area Winkelpolder. The total surface of the open water is approximately 960 ha. The Vinkeveense Plassen exist from the Zuidplas, the Kleine plas and the Noordplas. The swimming beaches are all in the Noordplas. The recreational are artificial. Island 1 is accessible from the main shore. The island is furnished for outdoor recreation, er is a playing field with a volleyball court and two climbing towers. Also is on this island a catering pavilion and there are moorings for boats. Island 1 is during the summer through a bridge connected to Island 2.
