The Vinkeveense Plassen are located to south of Amsterdam, between the highway A2 and the place Vinkeveen in recreation area Winkelpolder. The total surface of the open water is approximately 960 ha. The recreational-islands are artificial. The Vinkeveense Lakes exist from the Zuidplas, de Kleine plas en de Noordplas. The swimmings are all in the Noordplas. Eiland 2 is during the summer months through a bridge to reach via Island 1, other only per boat. The island has a sunbathing area, a sandy beach and mooring for boats.
