The Vinkeveense Plassen are located to south of Amsterdam, between the highway A2 and the place Vinkeveen in recreation area Winkelpolder. The total surface of the open water is approximately 960 ha. The Vinkeveense Lakes existing from the Zuidplas, the Kleine plas and the Noordplas. The swimming beaches are all in the Noordplas. The recreational are artificial Eiland 3 is only by a vessel accessible. On the east side of the island are two small swimming places furnished, both with sandy beaches and about of equal dimensions. Further are there a swimming location on the middle of the island and a swimming location on the southern point of the island.
