Cause: built in 1906 by harland & wolff ltd, belfast. owned at time of loss by the royal mail steam packet company, london. twin shaft. passage liverpool for buenos aires. torpedoed by u-110. crew and all 870 passengers recovered by hm ships michael & moresby. the destroyers later attacked the submarine and forced it to the surface. crew of 43 abandoned but only 4 survived the cold waters.

INTACT WITH LINEAR DEBRIS CLOSE TO W SIDE. SCOUR AROUND N END. AMEND WK 104MTRS IN REVISED POSN. BR STD. 8.2.13 8.2.13 UPRIGHT. SOME OF THE SIDE PLATING HAS COLLAPSED INWARDS AND SOME OUTWARDS. BOW COCKED UPWARDS WITH SIGNIFICANT SCOUR. (WARSHIPS, UBOATS & LINERS - INSS 2012).
