The swimming location is located on the Hoornseplas. The Hoornseplas located to south of the city Groningen and ten west of the Rijksweg A28. Direct next to the Hoornseplas lie nog two lakes, called the Hoornsemeer and the Paterswoldsemeer. By middel van een dam, de Nijdam, is de de Hoornseplas separated from deze two lakes. Dogs are only inthe period October t/m april allowed.

The water quality measurement is based on the amount of bacteria in nanograms per deciliter (n /dl).
