The bathing water is on the westside of the Burgumer Mar, net to south of the mouth of the Princess Margriet canal, in the municipality Tytsjerksteradiel. It is part of Vakantiepark Bergumermeer. The swimmingwater is originated in the years ’60 of the previous century as part of the surrounding recreation area. The site was to then the storage from dredging soil,)from the PM- canal. By the storage a hilly terrain, on which a vegetation developed on which the terrain therefore “Little Switzerland” was called .
