Plas Cattenbroek is located on the east side of Woerden along the A12 and consists of 2 separated parts. The southern part is intended for water recreation. The lake is created by sand extraction. The municipality Woerden has a small 'temporary' swimming location established. The swimming area, provided with a horseshoe-shaped sandy beach, is located in the southwest corner of the south-lake.

The water quality measurement is based on the amount of bacteria in nanograms per deciliter (n /dl). In this case it concerns the intestinal bacteria Escherichia coli (E.coli) and intestinal enterococci, which occur in the feces of both animals and humans.
