The Canadameer (also wel Aekingermeer mentioned) is located in the Drents-Friese would on the Canada between Appelscha and Waters. The swimming water lies ten southwest of Appelscha in a wooded surroundings. Around the Canadameer lying heathland and drifting sand areas. The swimming water is in the municipality Ooststellingwerf. Dogs and horses are at the swimming location not allowed. In the near surroundings is a separate splashing pond constructed for this.
