The swimming location “’t Gasselterveld” is located in Gasselte. The northeast part of the lake is shallow and located around a island. This part is used as swimming zone. The beach located around the island has a circumference of approx. 500m and has a width of approx. 100m. The depth of the lake in the swimming area is approx. 2,00 m. Buiten the swimmingzone very deep puddle. Beware on! Drowning by hypothermia by cold water flows.

The water quality measurement is based on the amount of bacteria in nanograms per deciliter (n /dl). In this case it concerns the intestinal bacteria Escherichia coli (E.coli) and intestinal enterococci, which occur in the feces of both animals and humans.
