Cause: built of iron in 1883 by mordaunt, oswald & co, southampton. owned at time of loss by william burrell & son, glasgow. two boilers, compound expansion engine of 170 nhp, single shaft. passage glasgow for trinidad and demerera. cargo of coal, gin, whisky, building materials, books, stationery, glassware, earthenware & general goods. sank after being hit on stbd bow by the norwegian ss 'flos' in foggy weather.

APPROX 300FT LONG, UPRIGHT, LYING N/S AND STANDING ABOUT 30FT ABOVE SEABED. STERN ONLY EXAMINED. ONE IRON PROPELLER AND RUDDER SIGHTED. NO DEBRIS NEAR WRECK. (HMS SHERATON, 14.12.76). H2579/76 22.3.77 APPEARS TO BE WK OF CLYDE PUFFER. BOWS NE STERN SW. UPRIGHT. STUMP MAST RISING ABOUT 13MTRS ABOVE SEABED.COVERED WITH NETS. LENGTH APPROX 30 MTRS. LEAST DEPTH BY DIVER 20.7MTRS IN GEN DEPTH 34MTRS. (CDO CLYDE S/M BASE, 8.3.77). INS AS WK 20.5MTRS IN 555142N, 045711W.

- NM1230/77 28.3.77 TOO BIG FOR PUFFER..DEPTH CONFIRMED. (CPA, TELECON). H1287/78/299 18.10.78 LARGE WK. ALMOST INTACT IN 105FT OF WATER. LYING UPRIGHT, HEADING APPROX 345 DEG (T). HIGHEST POINT IS BRIDGE AMIDSHIPS AND STANDS ABOUT 27FT OFF SEABED. SUPERSTRUCTURE & FUNNEL COLLAPSED. IDENTIFIED BY BUILDERS YARD NO AS THE WALLACHIA, BUILT 1883 (R MCCRINDLE). NCA. H2885/83 12.5.86 EXAM'D 16.7.85 IN 555141N, 045707W [OGB] USING TRISPONDER [3 LOP]. LEAST E/S DEPTH 19.4 IN GEN DEPTHS 32 TO 33MTRS. NO SCOUR. DCS3 HT 10MTRS, LENGTH 85MTRS. LYING UPRIGHT, ORIENTATED 000/180 DEG WITH HIGH POINTS AMIDSHIPS AND AT EITHER END. NO EVIDENCE OF 2ND WK IN VICINITY. (HMSML GLEANER, HI 165C).
