Cause: built in 1911 by sir ralton dixon & co, middlesbrough. owned at time of loss by moss ss co ltd. two boilers, triple expansion engine of 217hp, single shaft. passage bordeaux for liverpool. sunk by gunfire from u-28, 38 miles n by w from trevose head. 1 life lost. (sibi).

LEAST E/S DEPTH 68 IN GEN DEPTH 78MTRS. DCS3 HT 5.5MTRS, LENGTH 50MTRS. LYING 170/350 DEGS, POSSIBLY IN TWO PARTS. MAGNETIC ANOMALY 142NT. (HMS FAWN,HI 56A/79-80). BR STD. 6.9.04 6.9.04 DIVED 5.9.04 IN LISTED POSN. COMPLETE WK IN ONE WHOLE PIECE. FOUND TO BE A WW1 COLLIER USED FOR CARRYING EITHER COAL OR IRON ORE. VESSEL NOT IDENTIFIED, BUT PLATE RECOVERED WITH 'MOSS SS NAVIGATION CO' ON IT. PROPELLER BLADES STAND HIGHER THAN STERN. SIDES OF VESSEL COLLAPSED OUTWARDS. 2 DISLODGED BOILERS ARE HIGHEST PART OF WK, WITH TOP OF ENGINE COLLAPSED AND DONKEY BOILER IN PLACE. (G POUND/G FURSE TELECON 6.9.04). NCA. 7.9.04 7.9.04 THIS WK HAS BEEN INDENTIFIED AS 'VOSGES'. TRIPLE EXPANSION ENGINE IN MID POSITION, CROCKERY MARKED 'MOSS SHIPPING LINE' FOUND. (G POUND TELECON 7.9.04). NCA.
