Name: VIGRID (POSSIBLY)

Length 74.4 meter, width: 11.6 meter, draught: 4.9, tonnage 1617 ton
Load: coal

Cause: vessel, built in 1915 by bergens mek., voerksted and owned at time of loss by a von der lippe, was torpedoed and sunk by a german submarine whilst on passage from barry to rouen. (ll ww1 & dods).

Details measurements/cartography: 1918 SUNK IN APPROX 500000N, 052600W. (AUTHORITY NOT STATED). H3895/74 3.12.74 WK LOCATED IN 495955.8N, 052433W [OGB] USING HIFIX [2 LOP]. LEAST E/S DEPTH 39MTRS IN GEN DEPTH 49MTRS. NO SCOUR. SEABED FINE SAND AND BROKEN SHELL. (HMS HECATE, HI 1/74). INS AS WK 21FMS.

LEAST M/B DEPTH 40.09MTRS IN GEN DEPTH 50MTRS, LENGTH 188MTRS, WIDTH 30.9MTRS, HEIGHT 10.7MTRS, ORIENTATION 015/195 DEGS. WRECK IS WELL DEGRADED AND BROKEN IN TWO. THE NORTHERN SECTION OF THE WRECK IS THE LARGEST WITH A DEBRIS FIELD OF 90M BY 50M. POSSIBE TO SEE THE AFT MASTS AND MAST HOUSES AS WELL AS TWO CIRCULAR OBJECTS ON THE EASTERN SIDE HICH MAY BE REMAINS OF GUN TUBS. THE SOUTHERN MOST SECTION IS 75MTRS TO THE SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF THE MAIN SECTION. THE PORT HULL HAS COLLAPSED INTO THE HOLD BUT SOME OF THE STERN SUPERSTRUCTURE REMAINS. (MMT, HI 1500). AMEND NDW 40MTRS IN REVISED POSITION.
