USED TO EITHER UNLOAD FROM LARGER VESSELS INTO BARGES TO UP TO OLDHAM'S WHARF FURTHER UP THE RIVER CLYST OR TO REMOVE THE MASTS OF BOATS TO GET UNDER THE RAILWAY BRIDGE. LIES JUST TO THE W OF THE MAIN CHANNEL, WHICH ALLOWS LARGER VESSELS OF DEEP DRAFT TO SIT IN THE MAIN CHANNEL AND TO DRY OUT. (A MCDONALD, EMAIL DTD 12.7.07). LAND FEATURE. AMEND DEAD.
