Shipwreck details

Name: Name nicht bekannt

Length 38.4 meter, width: 10.7 meter, tonnage 680 ton
Load: armament

Cause: the vessel was blown up by her own magazine while not far from the dockyard jetty in hamoaze. approximately 250 lives were lost in the explosion, there being a great many more people on board than usual as the vessel was shortly going to sea. she went down in about 60ft of water and the cause was never ascertained. (history of shipwrecks, vol,4, p216).
