GOOD SONAR CONTACT FROM W. FLAT BOTTOM AREA. NO SCOUR FROM E/S TRACE. (HMS HECATE, 1972). NCA. HH091/059/01 26.4.05 HH091/059/01 26.4.05 EXAMINED 6.7.04 IN 5002.342N, 0411.299W [WGD] USING DGPS. LEAST M/B DEPTH 66 IN GEN DEPTH 70.6MTRS. NO SCOUR. LENGTH 20MTRS, WIDTH 9MTRS, HT 4.6MTRS. LIES 150/330DEGS. MODERATE MAGNETIC ANOMALY. SMALL WK OR DEBRIS. (GARDLINE, HI 1059). INS AS WK 66MTRS. BR STD. 17.7.08 DIVED 17.7.08 THIS IS THE WK OF A SMALL SS IN AN UPRIGHT POSN. STERN IS INTACT AND VESSEL APPEARS TO BE ENGINE AFT. PROP IS IN SITU. FWD OF THE SINGLE BOILER THE WK SLOPES DOWN TO THE SEABED AT 74MTRS, WITH NO SIGN OF THE BOW. POTTERY FROM HOPE AND CARTER, BURSLEM (1862-1880) HAS BEEN RECOVERED.
